Colleen Conway
Finding a little serenity at the edge of every day.
Colleen Conway was born in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, surrounded by mountains, water, changing skies, and centuries of history. Her love of photography began there, among the natural beauty of the Mourne region and nearby Carlingford Lough.
In 2001, Colleen emigrated to the United States and began a new chapter in New York City, where she met her future husband, Timothy. They married in New York before celebrating again with family and friends in her hometown of Newry.
In 2012, they moved to Marina del Rey, California. The beaches, the Pacific, and the extraordinary evening light rekindled Colleen's love of photography. She began capturing the colors and quiet moments around her—not with elaborate equipment, but simply as someone who had learned to stop and look.
In 2025, Colleen and Timothy traded the Pacific for Florida's Gulf Coast, settling on Rocky Point with their rescue pups, Scamp and Lady. Surrounded once again by water and an ever-changing horizon, Colleen found a new chapter in an old love.
For Colleen, photography is less about creating the perfect image than preserving a moment that will never happen in exactly the same way again. Through Sunsets & Serenity, she hopes a quiet evening beside the water can bring a little of that same peace into someone else's home.
The Meaning Behind Sunsets & Serenity
There is something wonderfully democratic about a sunset. No ticket is required. No reservation needs to be made. For a few minutes at the end of the day, nature simply puts on a show. Colleen photographs those moments when the world seems to quiet down—sunlight moving across water, clouds catching the final colors of evening, and ordinary landscapes transformed by extraordinary light.
No Fancy Equipment Required
Colleen doesn't describe herself as a professional photographer. Her work begins with something simpler: she sees something beautiful, and she wants to remember it. Sometimes the best camera is simply the one you have when Mother Nature decides to paint the sky.
Alive, Loved, and Present
A sunset marks an ending, but rarely feels like one. It can be a reminder that another day was experienced, another memory was made, and there is something profoundly fortunate about simply being alive, loved, and present enough to notice it. That feeling became Sunsets & Serenity.
